Zoom Magician – 5 Reasons why Magicians LOVE to use Zoom

The term ‘Zoom Magician’ has become incredibly popular over the last year amongst the magic community. As you of course have guessed a Zoom Magician is a magician that performs over the virtual meeting software Zoom. Zoom has become the platform of choice for magicians due to its versatility as a virtual stage in performance. The reason why magicians and mind readers love Zoom so much is the fact that it is set up perfectly to deliver the best experiences for their audiences, whereas many of the other virtual meeting platforms lack the functionality that Zoom has to offer.

With Zoom you can control the spotlighting and un-spotlighting of the Zoom magician/ Zoom mind reader; this means the entertainer can push his screen out to maximum size in an uncropped landscape format so the audience can see the virtual magic show nice and large on their screen like they are watching a TV show.

Zoom has the functionality to turn off the music and sound compression this means the artist, like a Zoom Magician can send out high-quality audio and music into the stream without it being compressed into that tinny sound which can be distracting and reduce the audience’s enjoyment.

Zoom Magician

Zoom works with 3rd party vision mixers and open broadcast software. This is a big and important one for a Zoom Magic Show as it means that the Zoom Magician can create a virtual stage for his performance. When the Zoom Magician or Mind Reader talks about ‘virtual stage’ they mean that they can bring audience members into their screen, a bit like you will see on TV programmes like the News when newsreaders bring guests or broadcasters into their screen to chat to virtually rather then them being there in the same studio. Having vision mixers and broadcast software compatible with your virtual platform means that you can have multiple camera angles on the ‘virtual stage’ as well as guests all on the screen in real-time. This really adds to the interactivity and engagement for a virtual magic and mind-reading show as you can have a camera angle shooting from above close up on the Zoom magicians hands as well as a wide shot of his face on and at the same time have guests on the screen reacting to the magic they have just been part of. Another great reason is the ability to play videos and overlay graphics, which is great should a corporate company want to brand the show with their logos or even if it is a private party the show can be personalised with an intro video slideshow of family photos or other personalisation like the name of the person’s birthday etc. None of this is really possible on other platforms aside from Google Meet.

With Zoom the Magician/ Mentalist / Entertainer can control the muting and unmuting of the guests, this isn’t possible in other platforms currently like Google Meet so the magician has to ask constantly for people to mute themselves which can get distracting for a live virtual performance.
